So over the past month I've taken a Wilton cake decorating class at my local Michael's with a friend of mine. I've always liked decorating cakes, but I've been lacking the proper technique. Now that I've started a family, I thought it was time I picked up some cake decorating supplies and some formal technique. It's been a lot of fun. Here are the first two cakes that I've made. I had less than an hour to do each one, so they're a bit of a rush job. I feel like I could have done better with more time to fiddle. Oh well!

what good luck I have!
About a month or two ago I stumbled upon this blog: alittlebirdietoldmecanada.blogspot.com. It is a blog belonging to a Canadian mom who posts links to giveaways for free baby stuff, like cloth diapers and other products made by work at home moms. Anyway, for about a month and a half I've entered probably two contests a day on average, and so far I have won two high end cloth diapers and a super cute hand made shirt for my son! That's pretty amazing luck, don't you think? If anyone actually reads this, I'd love to know what the best thing you've ever won is. I once won a roundtrip flight from Westjet.com (anywhere that they fly), and used it to go to NYC.
Welcome to my unglamorous life!
Today is the day that I start a blog! I spend a lot of time reading other people's blogs (and lurking - I rarely comment), and I've decided to start one of my own. So I suppose I'll start with a little info about me... I'm in my early thirties, a committed Christian, married to a wonderful husband (who I am going to call Mr Bunny), and I have a ten month old son (who I am going to call Baby Bunny). I live in a very cold and boring, northernly part of Canada. My husband is finishing up his university degree (he's a smartie), and I'm a registered nurse. Soon I will be going back to work part time. I'd really love to be a stay at home mom, but I can't yet. I live a very frugal, unglamorous life at the moment (old clothes and porridge!), although when I was a young and single nurse I traveled the world and had all kinds of adventures.
