So over the past month I've taken a Wilton cake decorating class at my local Michael's with a friend of mine. I've always liked decorating cakes, but I've been lacking the proper technique. Now that I've started a family, I thought it was time I picked up some cake decorating supplies and some formal technique. It's been a lot of fun. Here are the first two cakes that I've made. I had less than an hour to do each one, so they're a bit of a rush job. I feel like I could have done better with more time to fiddle. Oh well!

I've also returned to work lately. Here in Canada we get 50 weeks of maternity leave, so my son is just about 11 months. I'm only working 12 hours a week, so it isn't too bad. My husband is able to look after our son most of the time right now. He's in University but only has one class this semester (graduation is in May!), so he's home a lot. My sister had a baby girl two weeks before I had my son (we didn't plan this - God is good!), and she is also a nurse, so I'm looking after her daughter about once a week. It is exhausting to have two 11 month olds, but as long as I keep them on the same eating/napping schedule then it is manageable. They are just starting to take notice of each other and they like to play side by side, but don't really play together yet. I also joined the leadership team for the Mom's group at my church, so that is keeping me busy but I am enjoying it.
